Nicely done, as always, David. Love the Rivera coming to pick up your daughter idea, ha. Sweet Morgan card, you are truly the Giveaway King. Glad to see ‘87 make your top 5 list. I think I see it catch a lot of flak sometimes, possibly from burnout, but I will always love it. Thanks!

Oh yeah, I can see people hating on it from burnout. I remember when it came out really loving it, then for decades kinda being sick of it — then coming back around in recent years. Similar to how I used to hate 1972, but now I love it. Thanks, Scott! Loved your write up!

Not at all, no big deal whatsoever! Agreed, ‘72 in all its glory, is just so awesome.

Well just writing my dopey feelings down and you saying that, I really appreciate it. Very glad you enjoyed it!

Scott, awesome story about you and your brother. Really love how you stacked the deck in your favor and ultimately your brothers. Well done.

Thanks very much Patrick. Much later down the line I actually revealed to him that I “juiced” the box. To this day, he (kiddingly) gripes about the money he spends on cards, and blames that ‘82 Cal!

So do you two share similar collecting habits: new cards, old cards, favorite teams? I would love to have a family member to share all this with.

So we are pretty much straight rippers. He buys zero singles, and I buy very few (I pick up my Cardinals baseball rookies each year). We started out buying only 80’s and 90’s stuff to rip, and then got into current stuff when we couldn’t really afford the decent older stuff any more. So our collections, with few exceptions, are composed of what we’ve pulled. A colossal waste of money, relatively, but a whole lot of fun!

Great story about you and your brother and bonding over cards! The planted Ripken was one a great idea but the happiness of seeing his happiness thats so cool.

I love the poll, really like it, showing top rookies from each sport. That 18 year wow.

Patrick i like the tip on buying topps now on ebay for less for the base version.

This is a great read with variety! Keep it up happy hobby

Thank you, sir. For sure, remembering seeing how happy he got when he pulled it I believe is the main reason I can remember everything about it after all these years.

The survey results actually shocked me, thought it would be 100% in favor of 2018 with Shohei and Luca in there.
