Wow, think about the card Topps Could make for Dave Winfield: Quad jersey rookie card with Padres, Vikings, Hawks and Stars. That would be sweet. Well done on all the research on these "lost" rookie cards.

Really cool piece about cards that never were, well done! Mind-boggling to think about some of them. The Sabonis in ‘86 Fleer really got me, since it almost seems like a different era when he actually showed up.

Great choices by Patrick, I’ve had my share of fantasy frustration with all 3 of those guys. Thanks for sharing, fellas!

Yeah, Sabonis surprised me, too! They should've done an all-red parallel for the Russian! haha

Without a doubt would stop buying for the Jordan. So many greats missed their rookie year rookie card thats wild and shows how fae the hobby has come but that sweet archives set gives a glimpse into the what could have been. Here is a pol question for you Mr Gonos would you rather had the 86 fleer Design or the Topps Design from the archives both are exceptional imo. The Jo Adell train is gone, sadly all 3 of those are gone. Just playing in manors for a length of time is a great achievement. Great stuff

That 86 design is iconic, however, the Topps design is one of my favorites, with the team name on side and the additional pic in the bottom, plus the white edges can make an imperfect card still look great.

The fascinating thing to me about which top prospects make it in the big leagues is that it is so random. There seems to be no true set of skills that anyone can say will definitely translate to pro-ball. So many variables, to include team, coaching, position, other players around them. I hate to see anyone fail, and like you said, it is quite an impressive achievement just to get drafted and even make it to Triple-A or even Double-A. The crazy thing is that I still check box scores for Jo Adell because I want to see him just put it all together.

Great poll question for two weeks from now! I love it! (I think I'm an '84 Topps fan more than the '86 Fleer, but barely. I know it's different sports, but can you see Don Mattingly in the '86 Fleer design? I think '84 wins.

Mattingly in 86 fleer would be like the Yankees allowing full beards and long hair, just doesn't fit. This also made me picture Brandon Marsh or Charlie Blackmon in a Yankees uniform, that would be interesting.

Oh man, that's awesome! I'm mad I didn't think of that, hahaha!

Thanks, man, my hope is to do those for baseball and football, too, but there's just not as many "missing years" as basketball. I'll do those in the coming months, already got a list going. WInfield makes that football list, too, haha!
