Wonderful job, Patrick! I thoroughly enjoyed reading about your collection/goals for 2025. I think you make a lot of great points, and have great strategy for making yours a Happy Hobby! Love your eBay strategy.
Also, I’ve never followed hockey very closely, so it was very enlightening reading about Mario. I didn’t know most of that stuff, and the Mario hat trick is really cool! Well done, great read!
Great article, Patrick. These are the same lessons I learned when I returned to card collecting this past September. The BIN/Offer advice is great and I plan on implementing it going forward. I need to stop adding cards in advance to my watchlist. I do this as a placeholder/reminder. But I just end up getting offers from sellers when I don't have the money to buy.
I do the same thing too, kind of marking cards I am interested in. Every once in a while my watch list becomes totally empty and I don’t know what to do at that point.
The BIN/Offer is a fantastic idea, never thought of that at all! I am in same thinking to adding quality over quantity this year, although we will still rip bc its enjoyable with micah I’ve been making a list of cards id like to add as opposed to a bunch of value box finds. The Hobby break is excellent, great idea y’all had and David does a great job ripping. I also love the prospect corner! I know little about hockey but i do know Mario, when i was a kid and ESPN just ran sportscenter all day i learned many of the big names of the early and mid 90s.
I tried to encapsulate how I try to get the best deal possible on eBay, I hope it came through. I miss the days of ESPN running sportscenter all day, I barely watch anymore, I feel like everyone is just yelling at each other now.
It absolutely was clear, never thought of that at all, its a great way to get a better price! Yes i dont watch it either, most sports are just opinion shows
Nice, timing is always the issue with eBay. My goals is to make sure the offer I receive will not expire before the auction ends so that I have two options at the same time, and it seems most offers last 48 hours, but not all.

This is the first time I have made a specific plan. Now whether I stick to it or not is a whole other problem.

That has yet to happen to me (empty watch list), which is troubling.
I'm guilty of the same exact thing! I try to remember though, who offered it, so when I do have money, I know their real starting price.
